Tomorrow at the gallery, together we are reading a chapter by TJ Clark on the Haussmannization of Paris and the liminal “banlieue,” and Charles Baudelaire’s 1860 essay “The Painter of Modern Life.” In addition to our 19th-century program, we will read a contemporary text which is Martina Cox's review of Eugenia Paulicelli’s Fashion under Fascism in The Whitney Review. Martina is an artist with an interest in the history of womenswear.
